Women's Lacrosse Topples Mt. St. Mary 19-9

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team remains unbeaten in Skyline Conference play with a 19-9 win over Mt. St. Mary College Saturday afternoon at Danzi Stadium.

The Golden Eagles even out at 5-5 on the season with a 3-0 conference mark. The Knights fall to 5-6 overall, 2-2 Skyline.

Sophomore Lauryn Gregson finished with a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists. Senior Ally Johnston pitched in with five goals of her own and senior Melanie Cervone recorded a hat trick. Senior Kristin Carroll tallied two goals with an assist along with six caused turnovers, five ground balls, and three draw controls.

SJC was first on the board with an unassisted goal from Gregson. Minutes later back-to-back scores from Alexis Hillman and Johnston put the Golden Eagles ahead 3-0 before MSMC's Chelsea Henke put the Knights on the board with just under 20 minutes left in the half. After both sides exchanged goals, the Golden Eagles closed on the first half on a 6-0 run to head into the break leading 12-4.

 St. Joseph's picked up in the second half right where they left off with three unanswered goals pushing their lead to 10 (15-5). The Knights had goals from Morgan Pavlik and Alyssa DiMare to get within nine, 15-9, but the Golden Eagles maintained its distance cruising to a 19-9 win.

SJC outshot the Knights 30 to 25 with a 22-14 ground ball advantage. The Knights won 22 of the 30 draw controls but recorded 25 turnovers to SJC's 11.

Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos picked up her fifth win with 12 saves.

The Golden Eagles return to Danzi Stadium when they host Farmingdale State on Wednesday, February 18. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
