Women's Lacrosse Falls to FDU-Florham

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team suffered a 16-7 non-conference loss to FDU-Florham at Danzi Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles even out at 2-2 on the season as the Devils improve to 2-3.

Senior Nicole Stoppelli led SJC with a four points on three goals and an assist with seven ground balls. Junior Diana Johnston pitched in with two goals and an assists with 10 draw controls.

Caitlyn Damon and Kathleen Petrucelli recorded four goals apiece for the Devils with Madison Wood, Olivia Chaoush and Caroline Pape all adding two goals.

After SJC's Lauryn Gregson scored in the opening minutes of play, the Devils responded with four unanswered goals before Johnston scored off a pass from Stoppelli. A minute later, Stoppelli converted on a free position opportunity to inch the Golden Eagles to within one, 4-3. FDU then went on to score twice to end the half leading 6-3.

The two teams started the second frame trading goals before FDU's Chaoush sparked a 6-0 run putting the visitors ahead 13-4 at the midway point. Stoppelli and Johnston each found the back of the net one more time, but the Devils held on to cruise to a 16-7 win.

SJC's Lindsay Ramos finished with 11 saves on the day with FDU's Megan Nemeth providing six.

The Golden Eagles open up Skyline Conference play when they travel to SUNY Purchase on Thursday, March 29. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
