Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Maritime, 11-5

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team cruised to an 11-5 Skyline Conference win against SUNY Maritime at Danzi Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Golden Eagles improve to 4-3 on the season with an unblemished 2-0 conference record. The Privateers drop to 4-3 overall, 0-1 Skyline.

SJC's Tori Staker led all players with five goals. The sophomore also recorded three draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover.

Nicole Stoppelli finished with four points on one goal and three assists with four ground balls. Diana Johnston pitched in with three goals and draw controls. Lauryn Gergson and Ashley Fisch added a goal apiece.

Maritime's Catherine Pfundstein accounted for four of the Privateers' five goals while Krista Deleva was credited with the other.

The Golden Eagles built an 8-2 lead in the opening frame and each side went on to find the back of the net three times in the second half to move the game its final 11-5

SJC's Lindsay Ramos recorded six saves on the night with Maritime's Esmeralda Hernandez finishing with nine.

The Golden Eagles travel to Mt. St. Mary College for a Skyline showdown on Tuesday, April 9. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
