Women's Lacrosse Downed by USMMA

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team suffered a 16-6 Skyline Conference loss to the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Danzi Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Eagles slip to 6-5 on the season with a 4-2 conference record. The Mariners remain unbeaten at 12-0 overall, 5-0 Skyline.

Sophomore Tori Staker recorded a team-best three goals with five draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Junior Diana Johnston pitched in with two goals and a game-high eight draw controls. Senior Nicole Stoppelli accounted for the final goal of the evening for the Golden Eagles and dished two assists with four ground balls.

Jessie Wohner led the Mariners with eight points on four goals and four assists. Maddie Schmidt finished with four goals and an assist. Jessica Reilly rounded out the top scorers with three assists and she recorded a team-best six draw controls.

SJC goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos recorded 11 saves on the night with USMMA's Hannah Gizzi finishing with four.

The Golden Eagles return to Danzi Stadium on Tuesday, April 23 when they host SUNY Old Westbury at 5:00 PM.
