Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Old Westbury on Senior Day

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team came away with a 20-4 Skyline Conference win over SUNY Old Westbury on Tuesday evening at Danzi Stadium.

The Golden Eagles improve to 7-5 on the season with a 5-2 record in Skyline play. The Panthers drop to 3-11 overall, 2-4 Skyline.

The two sides traded goals to open the scoring before a 3-0 streak moved the score to 4-1 in favor of the home team midway through the half.  After OW's Ryan Burmann's goal cut the deficit in half, 4-2, SJC went on an 8-0 run to go ahead 12-2. An OW free position goal had the score 12-3 with just under three minutes to play, but Tori Staker and Diana Johnston netted back-to-back goals to close out the half leading 14-3.

The Golden Eagles outscored the Panthers 6-1 in the second frame to claim the 20-4 win.

Senior Nicole Stoppelli finished with 11 points on five goals and six assists while scooping up five groundballs.

Sophomore Tori Staker led all players with six goals while adding five assists and 10 draw controls.

Junior Diana Johnston pitched in with four goals, two assists and six draw controls with junior Lauryn Gregson rounding out the top scorers with three goals and two assists.

Senior goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos recorded 13 saves with her counterpart Tazmeya Allen finishing with 14.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the regular season on Thursday, April 25 when they host non-conference foe Moravian College at 5:30 PM.
