Women's Lacrosse Falls in Regular Season Finale

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team closed out the 2019 regular season with a 17-11 non-conference loss to Moravian College at Danzi Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles slide to 7-6 on the season as the Greyhounds improve to 12-4.

Senior Nicole Stoppelli finished with a team-best seven points on five goals and two assists. The midfielder added three ground balls and three draw controls.

Sophomore Tori Staker recorded four goals and an assist while scooping up a team-high seven ground balls and four draw controls.

After trailing 6-4 at the break, St. Joseph's opened the second frame with a pair of goals from both Stoppelli and Staker to jump ahead 8-6. The visitors quickly responded with a 6-0 run to retake the lead, 12-8, midway through the half. The Greyhounds went on to outscore the Golden Eagles 5-3 down the stretch to secure the 17-11 win.

Senior goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos finished with a program-best 25 saves with Moravian's Kelley Gavin collecting six.

The Golden Eagles will enter the Skyline Conference championship tournament as the third seen and will meet second-seeded Farmingdale in the semifinal on Wednesday.
