Kayla Flowers Named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

Centerville, Mass.- Kayla Flowers (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford), the junior goalkeeper for the St. Joseph's women's soccer team, was named the ECAC Metro Defensive Player of the Week today.  This award follows her selection as Skyline Conference Player of the Week and MVP of the Rutgers-Newark Tournament this past weekend.

Defensive Player of the Week
Kayla Flowers – St. Joseph's (L.I.) College
Junior, Goalkeeper, Patchogue, NY

Flowers was tabbed the Most Valuable Player of the Rutgers-Newark Tournament as she posted a pair of shutout victories against NJCU (Sept. 7) and Rutgers-Newark (Sept. 8)...registered seven saves on Sept. 5 in a 2-2 tie versus William Paterson...compiled 12 saves on the week.

Michelle Marabondo – William Patterson University
Senior, Forward, Kenvil, NJ

Marabondo notched 11 points in a 1-1-1 week of play for the Pioneers. She opened the week by scoring a goal during a 2-2 non-conference road draw at St. Joseph's-Long Island. Three days later in the Oneonta Mayor's Cup Tournament, she scored three goals and added an assist during a 5-2 victory over Hartwick.  She wrapped up the week by scoring a goal during WPU's 3-2 Mayor's Cup defeat to host Oneonta. Marabondo, who earned All-Tournament Team honors for her play at Oneonta, currently leads the NJAC
in both goals (7) and points (16).
