Women's Soccer Ousted from Skyline Tournament by Farmingdale

Farmingdale, N.Y. - A successful penalty kick from sophomore defender Andrea Kiefer gave Farmingdale State a 1-0 lead over St. Joseph's with 21 minutes left to play in today's Skyline semifinal women's soccer game. The goal would stand as the game-winner, as the Rams held the Golden Eagles scoreless to advance to the Skyline Championship for the sixth straight season.

In the first half, Farmingdale held a 7-0 shot advantage and 8-0 advantage on corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net. The Rams added five more shots in the second, while the Golden Eagles were held to zero shots. A red card by a St. Joseph's player in the box gave Farmingdale the penalty kick opportunity at 68:41.

The Rams will face the winner of #1 Mount Saint Mary/#4 Old Westbury in the Skyline Championship game on Sunday, November 4th at the highest remaining seed. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.

The Golden Eagles finish the season at 12-7-3.
