Lady Eagles Place Four on 2012 All-Skyline Soccer Team

New York, N.Y. – Forward Shanice Robe of Mount Saint Mary has been named the 2012 Skyline Women's Soccer Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's nine head coaches. 

The Skyline coaches also selected Andrea Kiefer of Farmingdale State as Defensive Player of the Year, Sage's Nicole Maher as Rookie of the Year and Frank Martini of Mount Saint Mary as Coach of the Year.  In addition, St. Joseph's-L.I. received the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Robe leads the nation in both goals (32) and points (67) and her 12 game-winning tallies are tops in the conference.  A two-time Player of the Week selection, the freshman forward has scored multiple goals in 10 of the Knights' 20 contests and helped lead MSMC to the Skyline regular season crown with 15 goals in conference play.  

Kiefer anchors a Farmingdale State defense that has registered 11 shutouts and boasts a goals against average of 0.80 entering its NCAA first round contest versus Williams on Nov. 10.  The sophomore defender has compiled 10 points on three goals and four assists and was tabbed the Most Outstanding Player of the 2012 Skyline Championship after leading the Rams to their sixth consecutive title.

Maher, a two-time Rookie of the Week selection, leads Sage in goals (13), assists (six) and points (32) and recorded game-winning goals against NYU-Poly (Sept. 22), Purchase (Oct. 3) and Mount Saint Vincent (Oct. 9).  A native of Glen Cove, NY, Maher ranks fourth in the Skyline in goals and fifth in shots (50).    

Joining Kiefer and Maher on the All-Conference first team are teammates Brigit Burgio, Jacquelyn Mancini and Tara McDermott of Mount Saint Mary; Old Westbury's JoAnna Kettell; Samantha Garcia and Ashley George of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Farmingdale State's Corine Magee and Christina Merrill; and Abigail Katz of Purchase.  

The second-team All-Conference includes Jamianne Eden and Kayla Flowers of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Farmingdale State's Breanna Blair, Jillian Lasota, Theresa Martorano and Ashlee Thompson; Nicole Gianotti of Mount Saint Mary; Old Westbury's Stephanie Maybie and Allison Pirone; Allison Bhadai of Mount Saint Vincent; and Rachel Wampler and Kelsey Woron of Sage. 

Now in his seventh season at Mount Saint Mary, Martini guided the Knights (16-3-1) to their second consecutive undefeated season (8-0) in conference play.  MSMC advanced to the finals of the 2012 Skyline Championship and will host the College of Staten Island on Nov. 8 in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Metro Region Championship.  Martini holds an overall record of 83-49-7 at MSMC.
