Eagles Throw Off Bloodhounds' Scent for 2-0 Victory

New York, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's Golden Eagles (6-4) flew high above the John Jay Bloodhounds (2-7) on Monday as Jennifer Martino's (East Patchogue, N.Y./ Bellport) two goals in the first half effectively cinched SJC's seventh victory of the season.

The Lady Eagles certainly came out of the gate swinging, finding the back of the net only two minutes into the match as Jessica Cordano (Oakdale, N.Y./ Connetquot) and Gina Guardino's (Lindenhurst, N.Y./ Lindenhurst) combined effort found Martino in the box for their first point on the board.

Just minutes before the halftime buzzer Martino scored the second and final goal of the 2-0 game but not without the help of teammates Heather Nolan and Kathryn Condron (Ridge, N.Y./ Longwood) who assisted the tally.

SJC goalie, Cristiana Votta (East Islip, N.Y./ East Islip), who had minimal action on her end thanks to outstanding Eagle defense, cheered on her team while conversely, the Bloodhounds' keeper certainly had her hands full with St. Joseph's 26 shots on goal.

The Golden Eagles will host Old Westbury at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in an attempt to improve their Skyline Conference record.
