Women's Soccer Breaks the Ice With First Win of Year Over Neumann

Patchogue, N.Y. – It took 108 minutes and fifty seconds but the St. Joseph's (1-3-1) women's soccer team finally picked up their first win of the season in a double-overtime win against Neumann College (0-3) on Saturday afternoon, 2-1.

Golden Eagles Joann Murino and Jessica Cordano connected two times, first late in the second half at the 85:15 mark and then at 108:50 in the second overtime session.  Murino drilled home goals on both Cordano passes, the latter also courtesy of a Heather Nolan assist as well.

SJC fired 26 shots at Neumann but did not find the net until late as Neumann goalie Briana King made 13 saves.

Neumann had only eight shots and Golden Eagle keeper Katie McGarrell made five saves.

Up next for SJC is a road game at Rowan University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
