Lady Eagles Dismantle the John Jay Bloodhounds in 5-0 Victory

Patchogue, N.Y. – The Lady Golden Eagles (2-7-2) shut down the John Jay Bloodhounds (1-11) in a 5-0 non-conference blowout Monday night at Danzi Stadium.

The Golden Eagles offense was ignited just minutes into the contest after SJC's captain Jennifer Martino (East Patchogue, N.Y. / Bellport) scored on a breakaway assisted by Jessica Cordano (Oakdale, N.Y. / Connetquot) at the 3:36 mark. Martino stayed active offensively assisting two more goals to her teammate Kristin Carroll (Patchogue, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) at 10:05 and 13:30.  Kristin Carroll, one of SJC's leading goal scorers, would go on to get an assist of her own after sophomore Cassandra Costarelli (Rocky Point, N.Y. / Rocky Point) blasted in one of Carroll's passes at 52:15. The Lady Eagles final goal of contest came in the 69th minute after Heather Nolan (Selden, N.Y. / Newfield) cleaned up a deflected shot that bounced off the Bloodhound's keeper.

St. Joseph's College played an overall complete game against John Jay College. SJC's offense was rampant firing off a season-high 31 shots, while the Lady Eagle's defense was flawless, allowing just one shot-on-goal.

Junior SJC goalkeeper, Katie McGarrell (Selden, N.Y. / Newfield), recorded her first career shutout.

The Golden Eagles will look to carry their momentum into their next contest as the team travels to Maritime College to face-off in a Skyline Conference match-up on October 8 at 7:00 p.m.
