Nicholas DeZenzo Named Head Coach of St. Joseph’s-L.I. Women’s Soccer Program

Patchogue, N.Y. – St. Joseph's College (SJC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicholas DeZenzo as the new head coach of the women's soccer program for the Long Island Campus located in Patchogue, New York. 

DeZenzo becomes the third head coach for the program that was established in 1994 and currently competes in the NCAA's Division III and the Skyline Conference. 

"I am very excited to be the new head coach of the St Joseph's College women's soccer program," said DeZenzo. "St. Joseph's is a very special place that has a bright future and I am very proud to have the opportunity to lead this program into that future. The program has a strong history and my goal is to sustain that success, as well as, take the Golden Eagles to the top of the Skyline Conference."

DeZenzo's last coaching stop was at Division I's University of New Hampshire (UNH) as an assistant coach for the women's soccer team.  During his tenure at UNH, the Wildcats won their first America East Championship and went to the NCAA Division I Tournament for the first time.  At UNH, he shared responsibilities for on-field training sessions, team travel, equipment, game film, fundraising and assisted in recruiting.

Before arriving at UNH, DeZenzo's coached at the Tilton School in Tilton, N.H. from 2010 to 2014. At Tilton, he held a variety roles including associate head coach for the boys varsity program (four years), special assistant to the athletic director (two years), weight training coordinator and academic support within the learning center (two years).

In August 2013, he served as the international coordinator at the Australian Elite Soccer Football Academy (AESFA) in Sydney, Australia.  DeZenzo earned his NSCAA National Diploma and Director of Coaching Certification in 2014.

DeZenzo's coaching career began in the spring of 2008 as he was the assistant coach for the Under-17 Boys Premier Division Team at Seacost United Soccer Club in Hampton, N.H.  He also served as the head coach of the Under-16 and 17 Development Team for four years at the Seacost United Express in Concord, N.H.

Coach DeZenzo played professionally in 2008 with the Kangaroo Point Rovers (Brisbane, Australia).  In 2009, he played for the Mass Twisters (MISL) in Springfield, Mass. From there, he went back to Brisbane and was signed by Bayside United Football Club in 2010. As a member of the Bayside United Football Club, he was named vice-captain.

DeZenzo played collegiate soccer at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H. where he was named the 2007-08 Colby-Sawyer Male Athlete of the Year.  In 2007, he was named a D3Kicks.com All-New England Second Team selection, NSCAA All-New England Second Team selection, and First Team All-Commonwealth Coast Conference.

The Methuen, Mass. native graduated from Colby-Sawyer in 2008 with a B.S. in exercise & sports science a concentration in sport management. He earned his Masters' degree in athletic administration from Plymouth State University in 2012.
