Women’s Soccer Fills Out Coaching Staff

Patchogue, NY| St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) women’s soccer coach Nicholas DeZenzo announced on Thursday the hiring of assistant coaches Briana Campisi and Steve Searing. The duo joins DeZenzo ahead of his first season at the helm of the program.

Campisi was a former star at Dowling College, where she helped her side win two East Coast Conference titles in 2011 and 2012. During the central defender’s collegiate career, the Golden Lions made three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Since departing Dowling, Campisi has worked as a head trainer for three youth teams and runs two pee-wee programs with the Elwood Soccer Club in East Northport, NY.

“Briana brings her outstanding playing experience as well as a very impressive coaching background since graduating in 2013,” said DeZenzo of Campisi. “Her passion and energy for the game is incredible and I am very excited to have her on my staff.”

Searing, too, has established himself as a prominent youth soccer coach, having most recently spent time with the Brentwood High School boys’ soccer team as a volunteer assistant and goalkeeping coach.

Additionally, Searing has worked with the New York Cosmos as a Training and Development Coach since 2013, where he trained youth teams aged 16 to 18.

Searing also has experience as a head coach, having run teams with the Stony Brook Rush Soccer Club (2012-14) and Brentwood Youth Soccer Club (2010-13), where he spent a chunk of his youth playing career.

"Steve comes to St. Joseph's with great experience working with numerous clubs over the past few years,” said DeZenzo. “His knowledge of the game and ability to assess players will be great additions to our staff."

The Golden Eagles begin their 2015 campaign with five-straight road games, starting with a non-conference encounter with William Paterson on Wednesday, September 2 at 7:00 PM.  St. Joseph’s will play its home-opener on Saturday, September 12 against Sarah Lawrence at 4:00 PM.
