Staten Island, NY|  A late second-half goal by Krystina Rodriquez proved to be the difference as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's soccer team falls to the College of Staten Island, 1-0, in a non-conference matchup in Staten Island, NY on Tuesday afternoon.  With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 4-9-1, while the Dolphins improve to 8-3-2.

After playing through a scoreless 68 minutes, the Dolphins broke through when Rodriquez slotted home a shot over the head of SJC keeper Juliana Cintron-Leonardo from 25-yards out.

The two teams had an ongoing battle for possession in the beginning of the first half with Staten Island registering the game's first shot in the 8th minute. The Dolphins would tally six shots in the first half but an organized backline ensured the Golden Eagles reached the break unscathed.

In the 68th minute, the Dolphins would break through the scoreless bout after intercepting a ball from the defensive, Rodriquez, with no defenders around, laced a shot from 25-yards out to score what would be the game-winner.

Junior defender Katelyn Jones registered the Golden Eagles' final chance at goal in the 88th minute, but saw her free kick attempt blocked by the Dolphin wall.

The Dolphins' attack generated 17 shots compared to SJC's three and forced Cintron-Leonardo into making a healthy eight saves. The Golden Eagles, who were whistled for 11 fouls, did not win a corner in the contest

SJC returns to action on Saturday, October 15 when they travel to Randall's Island to face Skyline foe Sarah Lawrence University at 8:00 PM.
