Gagliardi's Hat Trick Lifts Women's Soccer to 4-2 Win Over Sarah Lawrence

Yonkers, NY| Junior Christina Gagliardi notched a hat trick to lift the St. Joseph's College women's soccer team to a 4-2 win over Sarah Lawrence College Wednesday night.

The Golden Eagles even out at 5-5 on the season with a 3-1 mark in conference play. The Gryphons drop to 4-5 overall, 2-3 Skyline.

Gagliardi opened the scoring early in the opening frame when she finished off her own rebound in the eighth minute of play. The forward would extend the SJC lead in the 18th minute with an unassisted tally and send the Golden Eagles into the break leading 2-0.

Gagliardi picked up where she left off when her shot inside the box found the back of the net just 1:30 into the second half. St. Joseph's would maintain a 3-0 advantage until SLC's Kiley Ritter put the Gryphon's on the board in the 76th minute. The home team would inch to within one just two minutes later when Ritter connected with Sonia Simon to move the score to 3-2.

Freshman Savannah McMaster gave the Golden Eagles some breathing room in the 84th minute when she recorded her first career goal to send the game to its final 4-2.

The Golden Eagles outshot the Gryphons 18-10 with a 2-0 corner kick advantage.

Goalkeeper Juliana Cintron-Leonardo came away with four save with SLC's keeper Madison Mertsch finished with five.

The Golden Eagles return to Danzi Stadium on Saturday, October 13 when they host Farmingdale State. Game time is set for 12:00 pm.
