Women's Soccer Closes Out Regular Season with 8-0 Win Over Maritime

Throggs Neck, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with an 8-0 victory over SUNY Maritime on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Eagles improve to 9-6 on the season with a 7-2 Skyline Conference mark. The Privateers slide to 2-11-1 overall, 1-7 Skyline.

Junior Christina Gagliardi registered a season-high eight points on three goals and two assists with Gianna Castilletti pitching in with two goals. Junior Jessica Passabile and freshmen Kristin Schoenhofen and Megan O'Neill all added a goal apiece.

Gagliardi got the scoring started in the fourth minute when Carly Credidio sent in a cross from the near side and she blasted a shot to the lower left corner. The score would remain 1-0 for the next 24 minutes until Credidio dished to Castilletti who's shot to the bottom right was out of the reach of the Maritime keeper.

A minute later, Gagliardi took a pass from Passabile from just outside the box and finished it in the near side of the net. Gagliardi would score one more time before setting up Castilletti for her second score of the day to send the Golden Eagles into the break leading 5-0.

Passabile widened the gap to 6-0 in the opening minutes of the second frame when she pounced on a rebound off Amanda Fabris' saved shot.

Just seconds after entering the game, Schenhofen found the back of the net in the 68th minute before assisting on O'Neill's first goal of her career to send the game to its final score, 8-0.

SJC outshot the Privateers 28-2 with Juliana Cintron-Leonardo turning away the only shot on goal she faced for her seventh clean sheet of the season. Maritime's keeper Cammie Havens finished with 11 saves.
