Women's Soccer Draws with Penn College, 1-1

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's soccer team played Penn College to a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening at Danzi Stadium.

The Golden Eagles move to 2-0-1 on the season with the Wildcats now at 0-1-1.

After 80 scoreless minutes, the Golden Eagles broke up the stalemate when senior Jaclyn O'Shaughnessy sent in a corner and connected with sophomore Amanda Fabris for her first goal of the season and a 1-0 SJC lead.

The Wildcats tied it up courtesy of an Erica Gallagher goal with less than two minutes on the clock sending the game to overtime.

The Golden Eagles created scoring opportunities in the first overtime period including back-to-back shots from Christina Gagliardi and Fallon Schmidt in the 97th minute, but Penn's keeper Taylor Gonzales came up with two saves to preserve the tie.

SJC was outshot 4-0 in the second overtime period, but the Golden Eagle defense and goalkeeper Juliana Cintron-Leonardo held on for the 1-1 draw.

St. Joseph's returns to action on Wednesday, September 11 when they travel to face Stockton University for a non-conference contest. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm.
