Women's Soccer Falls to FDU-Florham

Madison, NJ| The St. Joseph's College women's soccer team was shutout, 8-0, in a non-conference contest on the road at FDU-Florham on Tuesday evening.

The Golden Eagles slide to 6-5-2 on the season as the Devils improve to 10-2-1.

FDU opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Jenna Conanan sent in a pass from the far post and Erica Martins finished it for an early 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, Martins struck again when she connected with a pass from Madeline Finnegan giving the hosts a 2-0 advantage. The Devils got another goal courtesy of Tatiana Nieto in the 31st minute to head into the break leading 3-0.

FDU outshot the Golden Eagles 9-3 in the second half resulting in five goals for the 8-0 win.

Senior Christina Gagliardi recorded five shots for the Golden Eagles with freshman Abbey Curcio finishing with three.

SJC keeper Juliana Cintron Leonardo came away with eight saves while FDU used a trio of keepers accounting for five saves on the night.

The Golden Eagles return to Skyline Conference play on Saturday, October 12 when they host the Bears of St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn. Game time is set for 12:00 pm.
