The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team opened up the 2022 season with a 1-0 loss to Stockton University on Thursday afternoon.
Top performers
- Keeper Mikayla Ritter turned away all three shots she faced in the second half with Madelyn Hunter making three stops in the opening frame.
- Gianna Edwards guided the Golden Eagle defense that limited the Ospreys to just one goal on seven opportunities on net.
- Facing a solid defense, Carli LoNigro posted St. Joseph's lone shot of the game in the 78th minute.
How it happened
- The Ospreys snapped a scoreless tie in the sixth minute of play when Sydney Williams followed up a rebound off St. Joseph's keeper Madelyn Hunter.
- The visitors held the Golden Eagles without a shot on net until LoNigro's attempt went wide with just over 12 minutes left on the clock.
