The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) women's soccer team earned a 5-0 non-conference victory over Brooklyn College on Friday evening.
Top performers
- Alyssa Schimmenti scored two goals and recorded one assist all coming in the first frame
- Emily O'Mara assisted on a pair of first-half goals before scoring her own late in the second half
- Emily Farrington and Gloria Arango tallied goals
- SJLI's keeper Madelyn Hunter secured a shutout making two saves
How it happened
- The game's first goal came early when Arango connected with O'Mara whose cross into the box was finished by Schimmenti just five minutes after the start
- Minutes later, St. Joseph's second scoring opportunity was successful when Farrington finished a pass from Schimmenti doubling up the lead
- O'Mara and Schimmenti connected for the second time giving the Golden Eagles a 3-0 advantage heading into the break
- St. Joseph's added to its lead late in the second half when O'Mara's unassisted goal was followed up by Arango's first goal of the season moving the game to its final 5-0
Notes
- The Golden Eagles limited the Bulldogs to just three shots on the night
- This was a Kicks for Cancer event and SJLI raised over $1,100 for cancer research
