Swimming's Nocco Wins Second Consecutive Skyline Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award

2012-13 WINTER/SPRING SPORTS SCHOLAR-ATHLETES OF THE YEAR ANNOUNCED

New York, N.Y. - The following ten student-athletes have been named the 2012-13 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective winter/spring sports:

A Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the spring semester in the sports of baseball, softball, lacrosse, men's volleyball and men's tennis. The highest cumulative grade point average (minimum 3.30) for both the fall and spring semesters of 2012-13 is used for the first-team All-Conference recipients in basketball and swimming.

Melissa Nocco of St. Joseph's repeats as the Women's Swimming Scholar-Athlete of the Year after swimming the anchor leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay and placing sixth in both the 100-yard and 500-yard freestyle events on Feb. 1 at the Skyline Championship.

Bash averaged 15.0 points and a league-best 5.73 assists while leading Yeshiva to its first berth in the Skyline Championship since 2009-10. The senior forward reached the 1,000-point milestone on Feb. 6 and his 1,088 career points place him 23 Perrone led the Knights in both scoring (12.8 ppg.) and rebounding (7.9 rpg.) as MSMC captured the Skyline regular season crown and a berth in the semifinals of the ECAC Championship.

Collins captured gold in both the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyle events on Feb. 1 as Maritime seized its sixth consecutive Skyline Swimming Championship.

Vahalla garnered Skyline Player of the Year honors after leading Kean to its second consecutive league title and a berth in the quarterfinals of the 2013 NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship. A first-team Academic All-District selection, the senior outside hitter was also named to the AVCA All-America second team as well as the Most Outstanding Player of the 2013 Skyline Championship.

Fitzgibbons batted .309 with 16 RBI, 25 walks and 29 runs scored to lead NYU-Poly to the Skyline regular season crown. The senior first baseman is also a candidate for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Lulow was tabbed the Skyline Pitcher of the Year after boasting a 7-1 record with a 1.85 earned run average and three complete games as the Panthers advanced to the finals of the ECAC Championship.  The senior righthander was an All-Region selection by both D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings.

Wavra scored nine goals and amassed 44 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers as the Red Hawks secured their fourth consecutive Skyline Women's Lacrosse Championship. The senior defender was tabbed an All-Region selection by the IWLCA.

Marcelli compiled 31 goals and 10 assists as Kean advanced to the finals of the Skyline Men's Lacrosse Championship and notched a program-best 15 victories.

Boni earned first-team All-Conference and Skyline Rookie of the Year honors after posting a 7-4 mark at No. 1 singles and a 10-2 record at No. 1 doubles for the Jays.
