Eagles Outswim New Rochelle in Senior Day Meet

Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's Golden Eagles (2-4, 1-1 Skyline) grabbed their second victory of the season, 113-68, against New Rochelle on Monday night.

The Golden Eagles beat out New Rochelle in the 200 Yard Medley Relay by 12 seconds. Gabriella Cannon and Lorena Waters helped SJC pull away in a close event. Kim Mazza took first place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle.

Gabrielle Zollo crushed her competition in the 200 Yard Freestyle finishing with a time of 2:21:92, nearly 40 seconds ahead of the second place swimmer while Lorena Waters took third in that event.

Cannon was just .23 seconds behind in the 50 Yard Freestyle as she settled for second place, and her teammate Taylor Buckley finished right behind her. Lauren Ouzounian took first place in the 200 Yard IM and Janece Guerra finished third. Zollo had another first place performance in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Mazza and Melissa Nocco finished first and second, respectively in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Ouzounian also took first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke and Buckley finished right behind her.

Nocco dominated the 500 Yard Freestyle, two minutes ahead of the rest of the field. Cannon missed out on first place once again; this time losing by less than a half-second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. The Eagles capped the day off with a brilliant victory in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.

The Golden Eagles will host Purchase in their last Skyline Conference meet of the regular season on January 24th.
