Golden Eagles Fly Through the Water to Earn Two Skyline Wins

Patchogue, N.Y. — The Golden Eagles had a successful weekend in their home natatorium, beating SUNY Old Westbury, 69-26, as well as Mt. St. Vincent, 70-23, and building a strong foundation for the season with a 2-0 Skyline Conference record.

The Eagles "A" team, composed of Jenna Birkmire, Melissa Nocco (Holbrook, N.Y./ Sachem North), Gabrielle Zollo (West Islip, N.Y./ West Islip), and  Kimberly Mazza (Bohemia, N.Y./ Connetquot), dominated the 200 Yard Medley Relay, coming in first with a time of 2:07.25. Zollo came in first for the 1000 Yard Freestyle with an impressive time of 12:50.40. Nocco came in first in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:18:83 followed by teammate Marissa Palmeri who came in third with a time of 2:28:27.

Birkmire came in first in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:24:69 while Mazza secured a second place spot in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 29.36.  Zollo and Amanda Perrone came in second and third respectively in the 100 Yard Butterfly event. Nocco, who had a great day all-around, finished out the day with a first place honor for the 100 Yard Freestyle while rookie Kelly Walsh finished in third place with a solid time of 1:12:72.

The Golden Eagles will travel to Sarah Lawrence for the Gyrphons' Relay Meet on Saturday.
