Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team suffered an 87-74 defeat in a Skyline Conference meet with the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon to open the 2015-16 season. With the loss, the Golden Eagles start the season with a 0-1 record, while the Dolphins sit at 1-0.

Sophomore Lorraine Diehl established personal bests in the 100 yard backstroke (2nd, 1:14.5) and the 500 yard free (3rd, 6:36.9), while senior Kimberly Mazza earned a first-place finish in the 100 yard free (1:03.5).

Also earning first-place finishes were Julie Garvey—who touched out CMSV's Erin Maloney in the 50 yard free—and the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Marissa Palmeri, Gabby Zollo, Diehl and Mazza.

"This was a great meet, we came in with a positive attitude and had a great start to the season," said first-year head coach Stephanie Palmeri after her SJC debut. "It was very close overall and we are looking forward to building on this as we continue throughout the season."

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 31 when they travel to Bronxville, NY to face Skyline rival Sarah Lawrence at 1:30 PM. Full postgame coverage will be available here at sjcgoldeneagles.com.
