Women’s Swimming Defeats Old Westbury and New Rochelle in Double-Duel

Old Westbury, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team defeated both  SUNY Old Westbury (115-73) and the College of New Rochelle (137-28) in a tri-meet in Old Westbury, NY on Tuesday evening.

The Golden Eagles opened the evening with a second-place finish in the 200 yard medley relay, asNatalie ArmellinoAlexis DoninCatherine Peralta and Corrine Araneo posted a 2:34.03 time.

Lorraine Diehl claimed St. Joseph's first first-place finish of the meet in the 1000 yard freestyle, when she clocked in with a personal-best time of 13:20.21. Kimberly Mazza captured first in the next event, the 200 yard freestyle, with a time of 2:20.00, while Catherine Peralta took second (2:58.30).

Also claiming first-place finishes were Marissa Palmeri (200 yard IM, 100 yard breaststroke),Gabrielle Zollo (100 yard butterfly, 500 yard free) and the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Mazza, Diehl, Zollo and Julie Garvey.

Garvey also posted a personal-best time of 29.57 in the 50 yard free.

"It was a great meet for us this evening, we had some personal best times and the team is really starting to come together," said head coach Stephanie Palmeri. "I am looking to continue to build on our performance and carry this momentum into the weekend.

The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday, November 7 when they host St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in a Skyline Conference meet at 12:00 PM. Full meet recap here at sjcgoldeneagles.com following the action.
