Women’s Swimming Defeats Maritime, Falls to Sarah Lawrence in Double-Duel

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team split a Skyline Conference double-duel inside Danzi Center on Friday evening, defeating SUNY Maritime 96-94 and falling to Sarah Lawrence 122-64. With the split, the Golden Eagles sit at 4-3 on the season and 3-2 in conference play.

In the evening's opening event, the 200 yard medley team of Lorraine Diehl, Marissa Palmeri, Gabrielle Zollo and Kim Mazza earned a second place finish with a time of 2:13.88. Zollo would pick up a second place finish in the 1000 yard free with a time of 13:07.53 in the fourth event.

Julie Garvey placed fourth in the women's 50 yard free, clocking in at 30:13, and Mazza claimed second in the 200 yard IM two events later with a 2:39.25 finish.

Garvey earned a second place finish in the 100 yard free with a 1:06.30, and senior Alexis Donin finished just behind her in third with a 1:19.26 finish.

"This meet featured some really good conference competition for our girls and I'm happy with the effort they put in," said SJC head coach Stephanie Palmeri.
