Women’s Swimming Turned Away by Maritime, Mt. St. Mary in Conference Double-Duel

Newburgh, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team lost to both SUNY Maritime (108-84)  and Mount Saint Mary College (137-55) in a Skyline Conference double-duel in Newburgh, NY on Friday evening. With the losses, the Golden Eagles now sit at 4-6 on the season in all competitions and 3-5 in conference play.

After junior Lorraine Diehl's fourth-place finish (13:04.91) in the 1000 yard freestyle, senior Kim Mazza and freshman Catherine Peralta earned third- and fourth-place finishes in the 200 yard free with times of 2:15.07 and 2:34.45, respectively.

Junior Gabrielle Zollo earned the Golden Eagles' only first-place finish of the evening in the 11th event, the 100 yard butterfly, in which she out-touched Mt. St. Mary's Regina Zeoli and posted a season-best time of 1:07.21.

Other highlights included third-place finishes for Mazza in the 100 yard free (1:02.03) and Zollo in the 500 yard freestyle (6:13.70).

The Golden Eagles return to action for their regular-season finale at United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday, January 9. The Skyline Conference Championships will take place on January 29 and 30 on the campus of SUNY Maritime.
