Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team pulled out a dramatic 97-95 victory over non-conference opponent Cedar Crest College on Senior Day inside the Danzi Center Pool Saturday afternoon.

For the Golden Eagles it's their second victory in as many days and improves their overall record to 7-6 as the Falcons fall to 3-5-1.

Gabrielle Zollo--who, along with Corinne Araneo, was honored in the pre-meet Senior Day ceremony--picked up SJC's first first-place finish of the afternoon when she turned in a 2:13.57 time in the 200 yard freestyle. Freshman Aileen Baker posted a time of 2:15.10 for a second-place finish in the same event.

Zollo would also place first in the 100 yard butterfly (1:10.03) three events later and freshman Samantha Mullman turned in a season-best time of 57.54 in the 100 yard freestyle but had to settle for second place.

A 1-2 finish for Kim Mazza and Lorraine Diehl in the 500 yard freestyle positioned the Golden Eagles to overtake the Falcons in the final two events. Marissa Palmeri's second-place finish and late addition Kayleigh Aiello's fourth-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke secured vital points for SJC heading into the final event, the 200 yard freestyle relay, which Baker, Mazza, Zollo and Mullman dominated to propel the Golden Eagles to the narrow 97-95 victory.

SJC is set to wrap up its 2016-17 season at the Skyline Conference Championships hosted by SUNY Purchase on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28.
