Women’s Swimming Tops John Jay on Senior Day

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team picked up a 112-69 victory over non-conference rival John Jay College in Saturday's Senior Day meet inside the Danzi Center.

The Golden Eagles, who took first in eight of the meet's 11 events, honored seniors Kyleigh Aiello, Julie Garvey and Marissa Palmeri in a pre-meet ceremony.

The trio, along with freshman Bella Peralta, took first in the afternoon's first event--the 200 yard medley relay--with a time of 2:16.76.

Junior Catherine Peralta (13:34.79) and sophomores Aileen Baker (2:19.22) and Samantha Mullman (27.11) each finished first in the next three events: the 1,000 yard free, the 200 yard free and the 50 yard free, respectively.

All three would go on to take first in their second individual events of the meet--for Peralta the 500 yard free (6:37.00), for Baker the 100 yard backstroke (1:16.56) and for Mullman the 100 yard free (1:00.26).

Baker, Mullman, and the Peralta sisters would team up for a first-place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay (4:25.05) in the meet's final event.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their season at the Skyline Conference Championships on January 25-26 at SUNY Purchase.
