Eagles Fall in Skyline Semis to Conclude Season

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The #3 St. Joseph's College women's tennis team (9-4) was ousted from the Skyline Conference Tournament at the hands of the Rams of Farmingdale St. (9-4) by a final score of 5-3. Farmingdale advances to face the winner of #4 Purchase vs. #1 Mount Saint Mary.

The Lady Eagles dropped two of their three doubles matches. Lindsey Merker (Flanders, N.Y. / McGann-Mercy) and Kelley McGrath (Nesconset, N.Y. / Sachem North) defeated Farmingdale's Vanessa Josma and Amanda Vecchio, 8-3, in third doubles.

St. Joseph's needed to win four of six matches in the singles competition to move onto the finals.  Merker and McGrath came up big again for St. Joseph's, winning in fifth and sixth singles, respectively. However, Farmingdale was too overwhelming, winning first, second, and third singles to seal the victory.

The loss puts an end to the Lady Eagles season and dashes their hopes of making a return trip to the Skyline Conference finals.
