Patchogue, NY| Now in his 15th year with the program, women's and men's tennis head coach Glenn Nathan looks to finally capture the women's team's first-ever Skyline Conference championship in 2018.

Nathan is a proven winner, having led the men's program to back-to-back Skyline titles and an NCAA Tournament second round appearance in 2010, but a crowded conference field of Farmingdale State, Yeshiva University and Mt. St. Mary College has made the prospect of a women's title much more difficult.

In 2017, the team posted a sparkling 10-4 overall record and a 5-1 mark in conference play. After upsetting perennial contender Farmingdale in regular-season play, expectations were high. Entering the playoffs as the second seed, SJC hosted Mt. St. Mary in the semis but were defeated by a score of 5-4 after losing sophomore Amanda Post to illness.

The Returners: Six of nine players on the 2018 roster are returners, including Skyline All-Conference selections Victoria Panicola (First-Team), Nora Burnett (Second-Team) and Lindsey Charrier (Second-Team).

Additionally, junior Amanda Post, who spent all of last season at first singles and first doubles, returns as well as junior Alan Caporale and sophomore Erin Hickey.

The Newcomers: Highlighting the crop of new recruits is freshman Taylor Hanscom, who was a five-year varsity player at Patchogue-Medofrd High School.

Nathan also welcomes freshman Alexandra Suslan and Suffolk County CC transfer Mackenzie Martocci.

Expectations: Returning nearly his entire team from last season, Nathan is hopeful the team can replicate its regular-season success from a year ago and put together a stronger playoff run. A strong crop of juniors are now much more experienced and will decide the fate of the team.

The results of the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll, released on August 29, saw the Golden Eagles selected third, tied with Farmingdale State.
