Women’s Tennis Dismisses Yeshiva on Sunday

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's tennis team picked-up an 8-1 victory over Skyline Conference rival Yeshiva University at the Outdoor Field Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The win sees the Golden Eagles improve to 2-1 overall on the year and 1-0 in conference play. The Maccabees slip to 0-5 on the year (0-3 Skyline).

Yeshiva was forced to forfeit at third doubles but SJC's tandems of Amanda Post/Victoria Panicola and Taylor Hanscom/Nora Burnett picked up 8-1 and 8-0 victories at first and second doubles, respectively.

The Maccabees went on to forfeit sixth singles as well and enabled the Golden Eagles to clinch an early victory when Hanscom recorded a straight-set win at third singles.

Panicola (6-0, 6-2), Burnett (6-0, 6-0) and Caporale (6-0, 6-0) won decisions at second, fourth and fifth singles.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 22 when they visit Oneonta for a non-conference match at 1:00 pm.
