Track Team Opens '13 Season at Bill Ward Invitational

South Huntington, N.Y. - The men's and women's track and field team began their season at the Bill Ward Invitational on Friday. 

The men competed admirably as Brian Wersan placed in the top ten of the men's 3000 with a time of 9:20.11.  John Antonacci also placed in the top ten of his event, the men's 800, with a time of 2:13.47.

On the women's side, Brittany Guttieri led the way as she placed second in the women's 3000 with a new SJC school record time of 10:47.56. 

AnnMarie Zigrosser (3rd), Lauren Waka (5th), Jenna Pearsall (6th), Samantha Maurice (7th) and Kristina Schrepf (8th) all broke the top ten in the women's mile. 

Mary Cipriano was also able to break the top ten in the women's 800 with a time of 2:44.75. 

Both teams will have six weeks to prepare for their next meet as they compete at the Wesleyan Invitational on January 18, 2014.
