Middletown, Conn. - The men's and women's indoor track teams began their 2014 campaign by competing at the Wesleyan Invitational #1 with much success.

The women began the meet in grand fashion as Caitlyn Ryan and AnnMarie Zigrosser were able to take second and third place in 11:01.07 and 11:08.30, respectively, in the Women's 3000.  Freshman Ashley Arquer (Long Jump, 60m, 200m) and Siobhan O'Gorman (60HH, 4x400) each racked up seventh place finishes.

Brittany Guttieri continued to impress as she took sixth in the Women's Mile and held off a competitive Amherst, who eventually took the win in the DMR, handing off in first place with Kristina Schrepf who followed suit and would not relinquish the lead.  Mary Cipriano and Zigrosser completed the team that ultimately finished second.

Not to be outdone St Joseph's fielded a second DMR composed of Lauren Waka, Samantha Maurice, Jenna Pearsall and Caitlyn Ryan, who in the final two legs began impressively closing on their counterparts.

The men were led by Brian Wersan, who with two laps to go, took the lead and kicked to an impressive win in the Men's Thousand as well as anchoring the Men's 4 x 400 relay along with Mario Mayen, John Antonacci, and Kevin Sanders that took second, all from the second heat.

The men also fielded a DMR that John Suchopar in his lead off leg handed off in first place.  Erik Haughn, Tim Elgort, and Chris Richards rounded out the team that took third.
