Track & Field Reaches New Heights at Molloy Invitational

Huntington, N. Y. - The men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Molloy Lions Invitational on Valentine's Day. and posted quite a few standout performances. 

The meet began as the Women's DMR composed of Kelly Roberts, Mary Cipriano, Kristina Schrepf and Megan Lavery, came from nearly a lap behind to take second to rival Mount Saint Mary.   

Siobhan O'Gorman was then able to beat her SJC record in the 60m Hurdles with a 11.04 mark.  Not to be outdone, Caitlyn Ryan took second in the 3000m, missing an ECAC qualifier by just over a second.

Ryan was then joined by Mary Cipriano, Jenna Pearsall, and Megan Lavery (in her third race of the day) to win the women's 4x800m. 

Ashley Arquer completed the women's placing with a sixth place finish in the Long Jump.

Brian Wersan led the men's team with a come-from-behind win in the Mile, outrunning his next competitor by five seconds.  Wersan was then joined by Jon Afanador, Mario Mayen and Kevin Sanders to take third in the 4x800m. 

John Suchopar, Erik Haughn, Tim Elgort and Shane Acosta also were able to place fifth in the DMR. 

After a week off from competition, both teams will complete their team season at the prestigious Armory Track & Field Complex to compete in the NJAC Championships on March 1.
