Arquer and Mayen Named NJAC Track Athletes of the Week

Patchogue, N.Y. — Sophomore Ashley Arquer (Lindenhurst, N.Y. / Copiague) and junior Mario Mayen (Center Moriches, N.Y./ Center Moriches) each earned Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) for the week of December 14.

Arquer's honor comes after competing at St. John's University Bill Ward Invitational last Monday. Individually, she placed 10th in a field of 13 competitors in the long jump with a distance of 4.73 meters. She also placed 21st in a field of 26 competitors in the 55 meters with a time of 8.52. Arquer was also a member of the Golden Eagles 4x400 relay team, which posted a time of 4:43.14. Her performance in the long jump currently ranks as the seventh-best NJAC leap in the event this season.

Mayan earns his NJAC honor after posting a top NJAC time during the same invitational. He produced a runner-up performance in a field of 19 competitors in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.13. He also placed 10th in a field of 13 competitors in the 4x400 with a time of 3:42.90. Mayen's performance in the 800 meters currently ranks as the best NJAC time in the event this season, and ranks 26th in all of NCAA Division III.

The Golden Eagles indoor track and field program will host the St. Joseph's Winter Invitational at St. Anthony's High School in Huntington on Saturday, January 17.
