Track's Arquer Breaks SJC Record, Men's Relay Team Qualifies for Penn's

Mahwah, N.J. - The Golden Eagle track and field team competed at the Ramapo Roadrunner Invitational this weekend and broke three SJC school records.

The meet began as Ashley Arquer competed in the Long Jump to place 8th and break a five-year-old SJC record.  Later that day Arquer ran an aggressive 200m race and broke her second school record of the day, surpassing the mark set in 2010.

The men's 4x800m relay team of Tim Elgort, Rich Schimmel, John Suchopar, and Chris Richards were able to place 8th and score a point for the Eagles.

The meet was concluded in exciting fashion as the men's 4x400m relay team comprised of Mario Mayen, Kevin Sanders, Jon Afanador, and Brian Wersan, came from the third heat to place 5th overall.  The team led the race from the gun and by the end were 100 meters ahead of their next competitor.  With this performance the group qualified to compete in the prestigious Penn Relays on April 25.

The full squad will next compete at the TCNJ Invitational in Ewing, New Jersey on April 12.
