Patchogue, NY| Despite strong performances from seniors Courtney Bocchieri (14 kills) and Courtney Wickline (42 assists), the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Montclair St. on day one of the St. Joseph's College Tournament played inside the Danzi Center on Friday evening.

With the loss the Golden Eagles fall to 1-5 on the year as the Red Hawks improve to 6-2.

Down for nearly the entire first set, the Golden Eagles clawed back to tie the frame at 24 before Bocchieri's kill—assisted by Wickline—clinched a 27-25 win for the hosts.

Montclair responded in the second and eased to a lopsided 25-12 win before taking the third set (25-21) in tighter fashion.

SJC took control in the fourth set, building an 18-14 advantage, but the Red Hawks used a 7-1 run to pull ahead 21-19 and eventually took the set, 25-21, and the match by a 3-1 scoreline.

Bocchieri's 14 kills and Wickline's 42 assists were both game-high marks despite their side's loss. Sophomore Danielle Senecal collected a season-best and game-high 20 digs, while junior Claire Urizzo went for nine kills and 18 digs.

In the tournament's first match, SUNY Cortland toppled SUNY Old Westbury by a 3-0 margin. The Golden Eagles are set to face the Red Dragons at 12:00 PM tomorrow and the Panthers at 4:00 PM. Live stats for both matches will be available here.
