Mahwah, NJ| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team was handed a pair of losses on day two of the Ramapo College Tournament on Saturday by non-conference rivals Ramapo (3-0) and Neumann (3-1).

With the defeats, the Golden Eagles slip to 4-12 on the year as Ramapo improves to 17-3 and Neumann to 7-11.

Ramapo 3, SJC 0

After consecutive 25-16 losses in the first and second sets, the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 10-7 lead in the third set, but an 11-3 run by Ramapo saw the hosts pull ahead 18-13. SJC rallied to claim the next five points to tie the frame at 18, but it was Ramapo that won the race to 25 and completed the three-set sweep.

Leading the SJC attack was senior Kiersten Kissinger, who collected nine kills in the match and also led the team with 13 digs. Junior Claire Urizzo recorded five kills and senior Courtney Bocchieri went for five.

Senior Courtney Wickline dished out a team-best 17 assists and was credited with eight digs.

Neumann 3, SJC 1

After coming from behind to win the first set 25-19, SJC dropped a tight second set 25-22. With the chance to go back ahead in the third set, the Golden Eagles squandered a 22-20 advantage and were edged 27-25. SJC would again allow Neumann a late comeback in the fourth set when a 20-19 lead got away from them en route to a 25-22 defeat.

Kissinger and Bocchieri led an SJC attack that generated 50 kills, but both were out-hit by Neumann's Rachael Hoffman, who recorded 18 kills.

Wickline was credited with 34 assists, and sophomore Danielle Senecal collected a game-best 18 digs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 8 when they head to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY for a Skyline Conference tri-match. SJC will face Farmingdale St. at 1:00 PM and USMMA at 3:00 PM. Live stats will be available here.
