Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team took a pair of 3-1 losses to Misericordia and Western Connecticut State in a non-conference tri-match inside the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

The losses send the Golden Eagles to 6-12 on the year as the Cougars move to 13-14 and the Colonials to 6-17.

The Golden Eagles were positioned to win the first set after a 5-0 run saw them pull ahead 24-22, but four-straight points by the Cougars with their backs against the wall clinched a 26-24 victory.

In the second, SJC squandered a 17-15 lead as Misericordia scored 10 of the set's final 11 points to go up 2-0 in the match.

St. Joseph's fended off a late-set surge by the guests in the third to cut the match deficit to one (2-1) with a 25-23 win, but the Cougars regained momentum and surged to a 25-15 win to defeat the Golden Eagles 3-1.

Senior Morgan Tiska hit .292 in the match and led SJC with 11 kills. Freshman Jessica Young contributed eight kills and junior Kristen Bohnenblusch was credited with seven.

Junior Danielle Senecal's 26 digs were a game-best.

The Colonials took the first two sets fairly comfortably by 25-18 and 25-17 margins but the Golden Eagles responded in the third set with a 25-21 win of their own to extend the match.

Down 24-20 in the fourth, SJC rallied for three-straight points (24-23), but an attack error by Tiska clinched the 3-1 match victory for the guests.

Tiska hit .286 and again led the team in kills, this match with nine. Senecal's 14 digs were a team-high and were only bested by WCSU's Victoria Korzan's 15.
