Women's Volleyball Picks up a Pair of Wins

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team picked up a pair of non-conference wins Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles took down the City College of New York 3-1 before finishing the day with a 3-0 sweep of York College.

SJC improves to 6-5 on the season.

After falling behind early in the match courtesy of a 25-17 loss in set one, the Golden Eagles bounced taking the next three sets 25-13, 25-9, and 25-23, respectively. Danielle Silkin led SJC with 11 kills. Jessica Young reached double figures with 10 kills while pitching in at the net with six block assists. Setter Brionna Silva dished 29 assists with 10 digs.

Kayla Oge paced the Beavers with nine kills with Dzeneta Harambasic recording 22 assists. Nicole Polanco finished with a match-high 16 digs with Harambasic and Oanh Han adding 15 digs apiece.

Leading 1-0 in the match, junior Toni Parente served 24 of the 25 points in set two including eight service aces for the 25-0 win. The Golden Eagles completed the sweep with a 25-15 win in the third set. Young led SJC with eight kills while hitting at a .700 clip. Parente tossed 17 assists while Danielle Senecal recorded six digs.

Argenis Morales led the Cardinals with two kills. Kiara Gonzalez dished four assists with Chanelle Quezada and Shamonie Miller pitching in with three digs apiece.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center on Tuesday, September 25 when they open up Skyline Conference play and host the U.S. Merchant Marine. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
