Women's Volleyball Earns a Pair of Skyline Sweeps

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team earned a pair of Skyline Conference sweeps Sunday afternoon at the Danzi Center. The Golden Eagles (15-10, 4-1 Skyline) took down SUNY Old Westbury (5-14, 4-4 Skyline) 3-0 before shutting out SUNY Maritime (5-13, 2-4 Skyline) 3-0.

SJC 3, OW 0

The Golden Eagles held the Panthers to single digits with 25-8 wins in sets one and two before closing out the match with a 25-18 win in set three.

Senior Kristen Bohnenblusch finished with a match-high nine kills while hitting at a .750 clip. Setters Brionna Silva and Toni Parente recorded 18 and 10 assists, respectively with libero Danielle Senecal picking up a match-high 13 digs and eight service aces.

Kyraleigh Zinnel led the Panthers with four kills with Danielle Corsi pitching in with two. Setter Kristin Grieshaber dished four assists with two aces. Shanyia Lloyd and Sofia Goris came away with six digs apiece.

SJC 3, Maritime 0

St. Joseph's completed the sweep over the Privateers in the nightcap with 25-19, 25-8 and 25-11 wins in straight sets.

Sophomore Danielle Silkin led SJC with a match-high 10 kills with two aces. Sophomore Kaitlin Williams and Bohnenblusch pitched in with eight kills apiece. Setter Parente tossed 25 assists with four service aces. Bohnenblusch had a team-high 10 digs with Senecal finishing with nine.

Celyna Custodio led the Privateers with five kills. Setter Erika Kirchner recorded seven assists and Abigail Steele led all players with 11 digs.

St. Joseph's College returns to action on Thursday, October 18 when they travel to face Brooklyn College at 7:00 pm.
