Women's Volleyball Splits In Regular Season Finale

Newburgh, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team split a pair of Skyline Conference matches to close out the 2018 regular season. The Golden Eagles swept Sarah Lawrence 3-0 before falling to Mt. St. Mary 3-2.

SJC 3 SLC 0

St. Joseph's took the first match of the day with 25-13, 25-17 and 25-13 set wins.

Freshman Amanda Goldstein led the Golden Eagles with eight kills. Fellow middle hitter Jessica Young pitched in with seven kills and a .600 hitting percentage. Setters Toni Parente and Brionna Silva recorded 16 and 10 assists, respectively and libero Danielle Senecal finished with 10 digs.

Melanie Coleman led the Gryphons with six kills and setter Isabel Percora dished eight assists. Lauren Kilroy recorded 10 digs.

SJC 2, MSMC 3

In the second match of the day, SJC faced off against Mt. St. Mary and grabbed an early lead with a 25-23 win in set one. The Knights evened the score taking set two 25-20 before taking a 2-1 lead edging the Golden Eagles 26-24 in the third set. SJC stayed alive with a 25-22 win in the fourth set, but the Knights came away with a 15-13 fifth set win to take the match 3-2.

Senior Kristen Bohnenblusch led the Golden Eagles with 13 kills. Goldstein and Young added 10 kills apiece with Young having a hand in on six blocks.  Silva and Parente tossed 21 and 19 assists, respectively. Senecal recorded a match-high 26 digs with Amanda Rose and Parente recording 14 digs each.

Morgan Burke led the Knights with 15 kills with Madelyn Barberan pitching in with 13. Setter Kim Gries tallied 44 assists and Klaire Wall collected 26 digs.

The Golden Eagles earned the No. 3 seed in the Skyline Conference Championships and will host the sixth-seeded SUNY Old Westbury Panthers on Tuesday, October 30.
