Women's Volleyball Holds off Brooklyn College, 3-2

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team picked up a non-conference win, 3-2, over Brooklyn College on Monday evening at the Danzi Center.

St. Joseph's held a 2-0 match lead with 25-19, 25-21 wins in sets one and two. The Bulldogs managed to hold off elimination taking sets three and four with 25-14, 25-23 wins, respectively. In the fifth and deciding set, the two sides remained close, however, the Golden Eagles managed to hang on for the 15-13 win.

The Golden Eagles improve to 8-9 on the season as the Bulldogs slide to 10-7.

Junior Jessica Young led SJC with 13 kills while hitting at a .253 clip. Sophomore Melanie O'Hoppe finished in double digits with 12 kills.

Junior setter Brionna Silva tossed a match-best 40 assists with senior libero Danielle Senecal finishing with a match-high 28 digs.

Ashley Fung led the Bulldogs with a match-high 15 kills. Setter Ezri Shor recorded 31 assists and libero Yana Shaposhnikova scooped up 24 digs.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center on Wednesday, October 9 when they host SUNY Maritime. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm.
