Cross Country Competes at Highlander Invitational

Newark, NJ| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 13th Annual Highlander Invitational hosted by the New Jersey Institute of Technology at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ on Saturday afternoon. The men would earn a second place finish among Division II, III and junior colleges and the women finished fifth.

Pacing the men was sophomore Ryan Haun, who turned in a 9th-place finish with an 8k time of 27:01.97. Junior James Dachille finished two spots behind Haun (27:19.41) and freshman Tim Monahan checked in at 22nd (27:52.55). Nick DeLuca (26th, 27:59.66) and Nick Diaz (28th, 04.34) rounded out SJC's top five.

On the women's side, junior Erin MacDonell set a new career-best 5k time with a 3rd-place, 18:59.69 finish. Seniors Kelly Roberts (20:21.03) checked in at 22nd and Cassie Costarelli (21:05.81) at 40th. Taylor Darby (21:15.67) and Abigail Lehr (21:34.92) finished in 47th and 56th, respectively.

Both the men and the women return to action on Saturday, October 15 when they host the 17th Annual St. Joseph's Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, NY. Full meet recap here at sjcgoldeneagles.com following the action.
