Women’s Cross Country Places First at Bard Invitational, Men Take Fifth

Annandale, NY| Senior Erin MacDonell earned her third first-place finish of the season as the women's and men's cross country teams earned first and fifth-place finishes at the annual Bard Invitational in Annandale, NY on Saturday afternoon.

MacDonell posted a new program-best 5k time of 18:11 and finished 20 seconds ahead of any other competitor in the race.

Freshman Meagan Haviland took seventh with a time of 19:29 and junior Abigail Lehr finished in 15th (20:14). Sophomore Karli Murphy (20:30) and senior Amanda Sprague (20:39) rounded out the SJC top five in 21st and 24th.

Junior Ryan Haun paced the men finishing fourth with a 26:44 8k time in the race. Haun was the third-highest placing Skyline Conference runner at the event.

Senior James Dachille (7th, 27:16), sophomore Nick DeLuca (12th, 27:55), freshman Tom Newham (47th, 30:16) and junior Dan Antonawick (117th, 35:46) all scored for the men.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 30 when they take part in the Mt. St. Mary Invitational at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton. NY. The women kick off the event at 11:00 am with the men to follow at 12:00 pm.
