MacDonell and Haviland Collect Regional Runner and Rookie of the Week Honors

Danbury, CT| The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) released its women's cross country weekly award winners on Wednesday afternoon, and amongst the honored were senior Erin MacDonell and freshman Meagan Haviland who were named Metro Region Runner and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

For the third time this season, MacDonell was named Metro Runner of the Week, this time following a second-place finish at the Mount St. Mary Invitational at Hudson Valley Sports Dome (Milton, NY) on Saturday afternoon. MacDonell's 6k time of 24:37 was best among NCAA Division III runners at the event and ensured she finished 1:04 ahead of her fellow Skyline Conference competitors.

The Sayville, NY native, in addition to earning three ECAC Runner of the Week nods, has collected four Skyline Conference Runner of the Week honors this year.

Along with MacDonell, Haviland helped power the women's cross country team to a first-place finish at the Mount St. Mary Invitational on Saturday—a meet that featured 24 teams. Haviland turned in a 14th-place finish with a time a 25:53 to earn her second ECAC Metro Rookie of the Week nod this season. The Sound Beach, NY native also scooped up her third Skyline Rookie of the Week honor on Monday.

MacDonell, Haviland and the cross country team return to action on Saturday, October 7 at the annual Highlander XC Challenge at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. The women's race begins at 11:00 am.
