Women’s XC Wins Bard Invitational, Men Take Sixth

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY| Behind strong performances by sophomores Meagan Haviland and Cassidy Jacobus, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's cross country team finished first at Bard College's Fred Pavlich Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Additionally, the men's team took sixth place in a field of 18.  

With 71 points, SJC finished 27 points ahead of Mount St. Mary College, which finished second.

Haviland led the women's team with a fourth-place finish (25:12.0) and was trailed by Jacobus (26:19.1) who placed 11th.

Freshmen Sandra Vivar Marin (26:46.4) and Julia Boris (26:56.0) finished in 16th and 17th, respectively, and freshman Caleigh Capek (27:36.3) wrapped the women's team's scoring contingent in 24th.

The men finished with 143 points, 82 behind winners SUNY Maritime, and were powered by junior Nick DeLuca (28:52.8), who placed eighth.

Freshman Dennis O' Rourke (29:34.4) took 12th and sophomore Thomas Newham (29:35.6) was 13th.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 29 when they participate in the Mount St. Mary Invitational at 11:00 am.
