Cross Country Turns in Strong Showing at MSMC Invitational

Milton, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams turned in third and ninth finishes, respectively, at Saturday's Mount St. Mary Invitational.

The women earned 132 points and finished 67 points behind first-place U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The Golden Eagles were led by sophomore Meagan Haviland (26:55.7), who finished fourth, 1:34 behind individual champion Robin King of USMMA.

Freshman Julia Boris (28:26.5) took 26th place and sophomore Cassidy Jacobus was 34th in the women's 6k race.

The SJC men collected 263 points and were 192 points off leader USMMA. Junior Nick DeLuca led the men's side with an 8k time of 29:50.2 and an 11th-place finish.

Freshman Dennis O'Rourke posted a time of 30:49.5 and finished in 30th, and sophomore Thomas Newham (31:55.7) took 52nd.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 6 when they participate in the Highlander XC Challenge at Branch Brook Park (Newark, NJ).
